Behind the revolutionary Cliffdiver bottle is German company Sauerland Liquids. Manufactured by Greiner Packaging and globally one-of-a-kind, it’s setting new standards for innovation.

The concept is based on a clever dual-chamber system. The bottle is made up of three components: a large outer bottle, a smaller inner bottle, and a specially developed cap. Alcohol is filled into the small inner bottle and sealed with the cap. The large bottle is then filled with the non-alcoholic liquid and also sealed with the same cap – to which the inner bottle is already attached. Only when the bottle is opened for the first time does the inner chamber release, drop into the liquid, and initiate the mixing process. This delivers a unique taste experience and makes it incredibly user-friendly for the consumer.

One of the most exciting challenges for Greiner Packaging was developing the highly precise closure mechanism. The innovative cap features both an internal and external thread that securely connects both bottles. The closure is produced using injection molding, while the bottles themselves are made using the stretch blow molding process.

Thanks to its reclosability, the bottle also ensures greater safety - especially when it comes to protection against knockout drops.

In addition to its innovative technology, Sauerland Liquids is committed to sustainability. The bottles are made from 30% recycled PET (r-PET) and are already integrated into the European deposit return system. This ensures the bottles are returned into the recycling loop and reused in a resource-friendly way.
